Durant firefighters put out a fire Friday afternoon at the College Inn Apartments on Montgomery Drive behind the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Campus.
When firefighters arrived, black smoke was billowing from an unoccupied unit on the first floor and firefighters quickly put out the fire.
They used a fan to ventilate the smoke that had seeped into apartments on the second floor. Assistant Fire Chief Marc Hall said at the scene that the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical and to have originated from a power cord to a heat and air unit on the front of the apartment unit.
