Durant Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire near a residence at 1420 Houston Street Wednesday. The vehicle was under a carport at the residence when responders arrived on scene. Lynn Edwards of the American Red Cross was at Red River Ford Friday afternoon to collect a check for $1,530. The check was one of many that the Red Cross is collecting from its annual Red Cross Hero campaign which takes place every March in honor of Red Cross Month. Larry Qualls of Durant apparently finished most of the Boston Marathon on Monday, according to results posted online by the Boston Athletic Association.
