Well, it’s sweeping Bryan County.Groups such as the Boys and Girls Club, Bryan County EMS and Calera Fire Department and local businesses have taken the challenge to raise awareness and funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.Your friendly neighborhood reporter has also been called out to take the challenge, but I want to see how much freezing me is worth to Durant.I will take the challenge and accept a bucket of ice water over my head, but you get to decide who pours it on me.

Rock Creek School transportation bond election fails

A bond election for Rock Creek Schools to fund the purchase of buses and other vehicles did not pass during an election held Tuesday.According to unofficial election returns from the Oklahoma State Election Board, it received 54.2 percent, 166 votes for it, compared to 45.8 percent, 140 votes opposed.Even though it received more than 50 percent of votes for it, bond elections require a 60-percent “super majority.”

New organization seeks to restore Durant homes
