City and community leaders discuss the importance of water conservation

Representatives from the Nature Conservancy, Citizens for the Protection of the Arbuckle-Simpson Aquifer, the city of Ada and the city of Durant all gathered at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center and library Tuesday to share the urgency of protecting local waters.“We don’t live on the aquifer, but we rely on it,” said CPASA President Amy Ford.The Arbuckle-Simpson Aquifer stretches approximately 500 miles between Ada and Ardmore and is the source of the Blue River which provides water to local towns including Durant.Speakers addressed Durant community and city leaders as well as representatives of the Chickasaw and Choctaw nations among others.
