All the highways from the Durant area to Texas have been closed by Oklahoma Highway Patrol due to icy and hazardous conditions, according to various reports.This includes US 75 and SH 91 over Denison Dam, where trucks and other southbound vehicles are being turned around by OHP and Cartwright VFD. Closures also have been reported on SH 78 south of Achille and US 377 southwest of Kingston.
With the forecast of extremely low temperatures tonight for Durant and Bryan County, Volunteers from the Durant Medical Reserve Corps will be opening a warming station at the Bryan Co. Health Department Meeting Room at 4 pm Saturday until 8 am Sunday morning.The warming station will close at 8 am Sunday Morning. Inclement weather has forced Donald W. Reynolds Library and Community Center to push its inaugural craft show and sale back one week.The library closed last Friday and Saturday due to icy conditions. The craft show and sale will be held this coming Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.Most vendors have said they will attend the re-scheduled event.
