The 11th ranked Tushka Lady Tigers fought back from a tough loss Friday night with a big second half flurry to topple 7th rated Wright City, 45-40, and claim the Class 2A Area consolation crown in Wilburton on Saturday.

It marks the Lady Tigers’ first trip to the state tournament since 2005. They will meet number five Fairview at 3:30 Thursday in Yukon for the state tournament opener.

Tushka took a while to get untracked offensively, managing just five points in the opening quarter and only eight in the second as it trailed the LumberJax 6-5 through one stanza and 20-13 at intermission.

The third period was a totally different story with the Lady Tigers getting 10 points from Alissa Kindred and seven by Grace Wall to knot the game at 30.

Jaylee Eaves then chipped in six of her team’s 15 points in the final frame as they outscored Wright City, 15-10, to pull out the win to improve to 27-3.

Kindred pumped in 16 points to lead the offensive charge while Eaves also reached double figures with 10.

Wall contributed seven, Taylor Chambers had five, Ryann Cochran scored four and Lauren Hauff added three.
