Bennington opens baseball season with 11-0 run rule

The Bennington Bears raced to an early lead and cruised the rest of the way to an 11-0 run rule win over Colbert in the season opener.

Talon McWilliams pitched four strong innings, yielding two hits with six strikeouts and one walk for the victory.

Bennington strung together hits by Talon and Tucker McWilliams as well as Kody Powell for three runs in the opening stanza to take control. The Bears tacked on a single run in the second before breaking it wide open in a seven-run third frame.

Talon McWilliams posted three hits, including a double, two RBI and two runs scored to pace the offensive charge.

The Bears got two hits apiece from Tucker McWilliams, Powell, Andrew McDonald and Josh Rubio. McWilliams posted a double and scored three times, Powell drove in two and scored twice, McDonald had a double and one batted in while Rubio also knocked in a pair of runs.

Bennington is slated to host Caney today for its next action.
