Lady Rebels grab win over Colbert

COLBERT — The Colbert Lady Leopards met with the Silo Lady Rebels on their home court Friday night that saw Silo packing up the win.

Colbert Senior Haylie McGowan led for the Lady Leopards in scoring by adding up 12 points for the night. Senior Kayla Layton put up 7 points.

For the Lady Rebels, Karissa Marshall led with 13 points followed by Jewell Arnett’s 6 point total. Daelyn Marshall and Alys Parr each contributed 4 points.

In a slow start up for the ladies, Silo took the lead for the night with Colbert trailing by 3 points. McGowan provided all 6 points for the Lady Leopards while Parr and Arnett brought in 6 points for the Lady Leopards and a three point score topper by Karissa Marshall that gave Silo the lead at 9-6.

The second and third periods did not fare as well for the Lady Leopards either with the combined score for both periods totaling just 9 and the Lady Rebels got 14.

Gaining the most points by quarter for Colbert in the final period were McGowan, Layton, Salas and Conner whose combined scores totaled 10 points in the 4th period.

Nine of the Lady Rebels final points were earned by Cullum and Karissa Marshall and a buckets scored by Cullum and Daelyn Marshall. As the clock wound down it was proving to be Silo’s turn for the win as they celebrated 36-25 over Colbert.

The ladies are now preparing for tournaments and are on the brackets for the Bryan County Basketball Tournament starting Monday, January 18th.
