ACHILLE — Round two of Bryan County Tournament in Achille was held Tuesday night as the boys hit the hard wood.
Boswell Scorpions and Tushka fought it out to the very last second and Tushka escaped with a 56-52 win. The Silo Rebels fast paced offense took down the Achille Eagles 95-59.
Boswell vs Tushka:
Both teams traded punches in the first quarter. Tushka took an early 5-2 lead. Then Boswell’s Caleb Brown would make a bucket and two free throws to give Boswell a 6-5 lead. Then Tushka hit a 3-pointer and Boswell’s Rowdy Yates made a bucket and the game was tied 8-8. Then Tushka went on a 9-6 run and led 17-14 at the end of the period.
Tushka outscored Boswell in the second quarter 17-6 on the back of four 3-pointers and led 34-20 at halftime.
Boswell came out in the third period with a 8-0 run. Yates, Jay Isaacs, Brown and Wyatt Sullivan all had baskets in the run. Tusha then went on a 5-0 run and led 39-30. Boswell ended the period with a 7-2 run led by Brown’s five points and a Blake Shults’ bucket and Boswell trailed 41-37.
Both teams traded buckets in the fianl period. With only 45 seconds left in the game, Boswell trimed Tushka’s to 54-46. Brown and Sullivan cut the lead down to 54-52, but in the last seconds Tushka made thier free throws and won 56-52.
Brown led Boswell with 27 points, Shults had 6 points, Yates had 6 points, Sullivan had 4 points, Isaacs had 4 points and Hayden Farmer had three points.
Achille vs Silo:
Silo and Achille went toe-to-toe in the first period.
The Rebels started hot with a 9-2 run, Jake Hamilton started the game with a slam dunk and followed up with a basket and Bryce Brister made a basket and 3-pointer. Then both teams traded buckets. Achille’s Alan McClung made a bucket, Austin McClung hit a bucket and Anthony Wolgamott also made a bucket and Silo led 17-8. With time running out, Wolgamott hit a jumper and Riggin Dellis hit a bucket from beyond the arc. Then Silo’s Cheek Dally made a 3-pointer and Silo led 20-13.
In the second period, Achille began to turn the ball over and Silo took advantage and began to pull away. With two minutes left, the Rebels led 36-24. Then Silo went on a 11-2 run and led 47-26 at halftime.
Silo’s offense kept rolling along in the third period as they made four three pointers. Trenton Long made two and Brister hit two from the arc. Achille tried to keep up but was outscored 20-14 and the Rebels led 67-40.
In the fourth period, Silo started with a 11-0 run with a 3-pointers from Dally and Lucas Long. Hamilton hit lay up and Brister finished off a three point play from the free throw line. Then Achille fought back and went on a 8-2 run. Austin and Alan McClung both hit buckets, Wolgamott and Burden both made baskets in the run and Achille trailed 50-82,
But the Rebels kept scoring at will and took home a 95-59 win.
Hamilton had 22 points for Silo. Brister had 27 points, Trenton Long finished with 13 points, Lucas Long had 10 points, Cheek had 9 points.
For Achille, Wolgamott led the way with 20 points, Alan McClung had 16 points and Dellis had 13 points.
The Bryan County Tournament will continue on Thursday at Southeastern.
