In the ladies first match up Thursday night at SOSU for the Bryan County Tournament semi-finals, the Caddo Lady Bruins squared off against the Boswell Lady Scorpions. In a final score of 43-37, the Lady Bruins took the victory to advance to the finals this Saturday.
Alli Adair led the Lady Bruins in scoring with 18 points followed by Tama Hightower with 12 points and Maddie Graves with 8.
For the Lady Scorpions, Hailey Belvin led with 11 points followed by Breosha Williams with 10 points, Camrie Rhone with 8 points and Breah Stewart with 6.
Building up momentum for the first period, Caddo took the first lead for the game with a close 10-9 lead over the Lady Scorpions.
Graves and Hightower started the second period for Caddo with a basket each before Williams planted a basket for Boswell. Hightower grabbed up another two points next for Caddo before the Lady Scorpions launched a 9-2 run and that gave them a four point lead over Caddo. Allison Hawkins put up the last points of the quarter with a three point hit for the Lady Bruins and left them trailing by just one with the score at 19-20 at the half.
Scoring for both sides was minimal for the third period as the ladies traded buckets throughout. The Lady Scorpions maintained a scant lead by two at the close of the quarter with the score at 25-27.
The Lady Bruins came out fighting in the final round of play starting with a bucket from Adair. Netting another four at the free throw line from Hightower and Adair, Caddo took the lead after another basket from Adair. Swapping the next few buckets for points, it came down to the free throw lines to determine the winner. After netting five points at the line by Graves and Adair, the Lady Scorpions came up short with Caddo grabbing up the win to head into the finals on Saturday with a 43-37 victory.
