Joyce Mathews, 75, of Durant, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. She was born on October 3, 1935, in Byers, TX., to Claud Newton and Rosa Lee Horn Clinton. She attended Frederick schools, and lived in Frederick most of her life and married Robert Mathews on June 8, 1952, in Frederick. She was a retired nursing home secretary. She enjoyed embroidery, reading and working puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Dale Mathews, three brothers Lawrence, R.C. “Pete” and Eddie Ray “Johnny” Clinton. She is survived by a brother Arthur Clinton of Calera, two sister-in-laws Joyce Clinton of Colbert and Joyce Ray Clinton of Purcell. Numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Graveside Services for Joyce Mathews will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera with Reverend Kerry Groce of Mead Baptist Church officiating. There will be no family night and arrangements have been entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert.
