OKLAHOMA CITY - Bryan County bowling put two teams in the State Tournament and out of 16 teams, representatives Durant and Calera found a way to find each other.

After pool play, the Lions qualified for the fourth seed and Calera finished thirteenth. As it happened, the two met in the first round.

Durant eliminated Calera from the tournament by winning three games to two.

In the quarterfinals, Durant ran into defending State Champion Broken Arrow and bowed out to the eventual state finalist team.

Tulsa Union won the competition 3-2 over Broken Arrow.

Durant's Suther Mowles was selected to the All-State team and Alex Perry got the nod for Calera.

"It was great, the boys were a little nervous because they've never seen so many people under one roof before. There were 16 teams for both boys and girls, and they had never bowled in front of that many people," said Durant coach Mark Ellis. "We won the first round and got to bowl the defending state champion and eventual runner-up so it was a good experience. The kids are excited about going back next year."
