COLBERT- Colbert Council hired two people during a special meeting Friday evening to take up the slack for two city employees who quit without giving a two-week notice.

Clerk/Treasurer Pam Comeaux and, Virginia Washer, a water-billing clerk, resigned Tuesday, effective that day.

After meeting in executive session for three hours during Friday's meeting, the council voted to hire Gail Stowers to work in the accounting department, and Terri Confer as water-billing clerk.

City Consultant Danny Howard said 10 people applied for the jobs. About six people were interviewed that evening.
