DURANT - Andrew Weatherly had a big game for the Durant Lions as he pitched a three-hitter and slammed a solo home run in a 9-1 run-rule win over Caddo here Friday afternoon.

The Lions improved to 17-7 overall and Caddo is now 18-12.

Durant is scheduled to visit Ardmore at 4:30 p.m. Monday for A and B games, then close out the regular season with four games at Lloyd Plyler Park.

The Lions host Madill at 4 p.m. Tuesday and Dickson will be here at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Durant is hosting Plainview and Valliant in a three-way Friday starting at 1 p.m.

The Lions will celebrate Senior Night against Valliant.

Assistants John Wilmoth and Zach Crabtree coached the Lions since head coach Steve O'Steen was at the hospital where his wife delivered their first boy.

Coach Wilmoth said, "It was good to have Cole (Rodriguez) back in the lineup. He's still a little rusty, but that's to be expected.

"Andrew (Weatherly) threw well. He's coming along at the right time. We hit the ball well and as long as we keep hitting, we have a chance."

Durant 9, Caddo 1

Caddo's Nick Finley punched a one-out single to left field, but the Bruins left him stranded at first base in the opening inning.

Weatherly, hitting leadoff along with pitching, belted his fifth home run over the leftfield fence to stake himself to a 1-0 edge.

Rodriguez doubled off the wall in right-center and moved to third on a single, the first of four hits for Mitch Barreras.
