Council members appointed Martha Blackmon to serve the remainder of former Clerk/Treasurer Pam Comeaux's term. Comeaux resigned in March after heated meetings with council members, including one meeting where she was slapped by Council Member Mary Barnett.
Vice Mayor Wyota Hannan said Blackmon has prior experience in city government. She served as a city secretary from 1965-1973 in Keller, Texas. She moved to Oklahoma a couple of years ago to be closer to family members
