It's tournament time for several area schools. Close to home is the First United Bank Silo Tournament and the First Texoma National Bank Durant Lion Classic.

Silo will start things off Monday hosting area schools Calera, Caney and Victory Life. Joining the mix will be Healdton, Stuart, Madill and Wilson.

Healdton has the top seed in both brackets, but the boys might use some junior varsity players in the lineup with some of the hoopsters just now finishing the football season with a Class A semifinal loss to Tonkawa.

The Lady Rebels enter the tournament 7-1 and the Silo boys are 3-5. The Calera girls come into the tournament at 2-5. The Bulldogs are 3-4.

The Caney girls are 5-2 and the Cougars are still looking for their first win at 0-6.

The tournament officially begins 5 p.m. Monday with the Caney girls taking on Madill. The first boys game will follow with Madill taking on Stuart.

Bennington is hosting a tournament that features the undefeated Achille Lady Eagles.

Colbert, Rock Creek and Coleman will play in the Murray State College Tournament beginning Thursday at Tishomingo. At the same time, Caddo will be at the Kiowa Tournament.

Brackets for the First United Silo Tournament and the First Texoma Durant Lion Classic are in today's (Sunday, Dec. 5) edition on page 3C. A preview for the Durant Lion Classic will run later this week in the Democrat.
