KIOWA - It was a doozie. A buzzer beater that did not drop. Caddo lost a 36-35 hard fought final in the Kiowa Tournament to Top 10 Tushka.

Despite the low score, this was a championship caliber game. Both teams played tough defense, mixing man and a variety of zones and presses. In the end it came down to a missed free throw by Tushka, two missed follow ups and a foiled jail break by Caddo.

With 15 ticks on the clock and a one-point Tushka lead, a Tiger stepped to the line to seal the win. His shot went off the front of the rim and into the hands of a Tushka teammate who shot and missed. Caddo failed to gather in the rebound. Once again Tushka got a shot from short range, only to miss once more. This time Caddo's 6-3 junior, Rob Frederick, came out of the pack with the ball. He hit a streaking Brody Haddock who was heading for a layup.

The Tushka players converged on Haddock, bumping him slightly off balance. He got the ball up to the side of the backboard, where Darren Hodge captured the carom. Hodge whipped the ball out front to Spencer Phipps. Phipps had a pretty good look at the basket, but his shot bounded away at the buzzer.
