DURANT - Tyson Foods Inc. announced today that it would locate a proposed meat processing and packaging plant in Sherman, Texas, instead of Durant. The facility will be located in the former Oscar Mayer Plant in Sherman and will employ between 1,500 and 1,700 workers.

Sherman and Durant were the final two cities in the running for the facility. Tyson officials were unable to negotiate a timeline to build a new facility in Durant.
