The SOSU Women's team remains in the lead for the regional title after the sixth collegiate rodeo of the year.
Southeastern Oklahoma State University Women's team is holding on to their top seat in the Central Plains region with 1065 points followed by Southwestern Oklahoma State University with 870 points.
Junior Lainee Shearer is currently in first place for the women's all around competition as well as the barrel racing competition.
Shearer is followed by freshman teammates Robin Webb (second place) and Jesse Alsup (fourth place).
Shearer is also in the top 10 in both the goat tying and breakaway roping competitions.
The men's team moved to fourth place after Ft. Scott's rodeo lead by Junior Kollin VonAhn who is currently winning the region in the calf roping event and placing in the top 10 in the team roping competition.
Freshman Robin Webb added to the women's team success in the breakaway roping competition at Ft. Scott KS with a 3.3 second run in the long round of competition followed by a 3.0 second run in the final round.
Webb split first place in the final round and finished fourth in the average. Freshman Jesse Alsup won the long round of the barrel race with a run of 13.55 followed by a short round time of 13.71 to finish fourth in the average. Southeastern qualified four of the top 10 teams in the team roping competition. Senior, three time College National Finals Qualifier Cody McMinn finished second place overall with runs of 6.6 and 6.7 seconds.
Teammate JW Nelson won the first round of the team roping with a run of 5.0 seconds but failed to turn in a time in the final round.
Coach Sara Burks is confident in the team that they will remain in the lead for the women's title and also foresees the men's team to recapture their previous third place standing after the next college rodeo.
The team travels to Guymon for the Panhandle State University Stampede the first weekend in April.
