TULSA - The Durant Lions boys basketball team continued its historic run in the post-season playoffs, advancing to the Class 5A State Tournament semifinals with a win Thursday night.

The Lions survived a four-overtime game against John Marshall Thursday at Oral Roberts University's Mabee Center, winning 74-72.

Coach Don Overton's team plays today at 2:30 p.m. in the semifinals against Tulsa Central in a rematch of last week's Area championship game, won by Tulsa Central. Durant is now 17-10 overall and has won 14 of its last 16 games.

Thursday's state tournament victory was Durant's first since 1979. The Lions are making their first state tournament appearance since 1982.

Several hundred Durant fans boarded chartered buses Thursday afternoon for the three-hour trip to Tulsa. The athletic booster club, with help from the Choctaw Nation, chartered the buses.

If Durant wins today, the Lions will play in the 5A state championship game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the ORU Mabee Center.
