A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Coffey-Murray Chapel for Roy Lee Cox, 73, Mead, who passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2006. Rev. Anthony Williams will officiate.

He was born Saturday, Jan. 7, 1933, in Burnett, Texas, to Elmer and Lola (Henderson) Cox. He married Dorothy Self Aug. 10, 1954 in Burnett. He was fabrication foreman for Peabody Gallion and a member of the Church of Christ. He was member of the Durant Elks Lodge for 36 years and the last office he held was Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed running his Daily Oklahoman route, working around his home, raising chickens, and playing on his tractor and lawn mower. He loved his family and taking care of them was his greatest legacy. His children and grandchildren were always in awe in the way that he could fix things.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Malford Cox; and sister Daphus Ownes.

He is survived by his wife Dot, Mead; son Darius Emerson and wife Denise, Krebbs; daughters Pat Denney, Euless, Texas, Robin Tidwell and husband Larry, Mead; grandchildren Latrece Ratcliff, Mead, Brandon Gooch and wife Stephanie, Durant, Jeremy Reynolds, Plano, Texas, Rick Emerson and wife Stacy, Fort Worth, Texas, Melissa Emerson, Owasso, Natalie Reynolds, Lewisville, Texas, Matt Reynolds, Plano, Scott Emerson, Owasso, Tiffany Gooch, Mead, Dustin Tidwell, Houston, Texas, Aaron Tidwell and wife Lindsay, Tulsa, Devon Tidwell, Durant, Edwin, Wayne and Timmy Emerson, Krebbs; great-grandchildren Staci Parrott, Durant, Justis Ratcliff, Mead; brothers David Cox and wife Kay, Lampasas, Texas, H.A. Cox, Lampasas; sisters Mary Ann Frank and husband A.E., Lampasas, Alice Keihler and husband Howard, Palm Bay, Fla., Dotty Whitley, Midland, Texas; sister-in-law Nelda Cox, Kellen, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family hour is from 6-7 p.m. today at Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Mead Cemetery with his grandsons as pallbearers.
