A Grand Prairie, Texas, man was hit with drug charges following a traffic stop by Calera Police where officers seized several kinds of suspected drugs, including LSD.
Delbert Leroy Elder, 57, was charged Thursday with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of LSD, possession of marijuana, possession of Xanax and Lortab and possession of drug paraphernalia. Elder was arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop at U.S 69/75 and McKennon Street, according to court records.
In other crimes, law enforcement is investigating several thefts and burglaries that have been reported by residents the past few days, including one police said was precipitated by threatening telephone calls.
A woman in the 600 block of North 12th Avenue told Durant Police Lt. David Houser that the back door of her home had been broken. She said an unknown person had been calling her cell phone recently and making sexual threats.
According to the report, the caller said he knew when her husband was away. Her husband recently bought her a .22-caliber pistol for protection, but the weapon was stolen during Monday's burglary. Also stolen was about $100 in change. This was the second burglary of the home. She told police about two weeks ago that $700 had been stolen.
Sunday, a Nelson Street resident west of Durant told Deputy Tony Walden he had been out of town a couple of months and when he returned, he discovered the home had been burglarized. Among items stolen were a computer, printer and a jack.
A woman followed three suspects who had stolen a 911 road sign at Peanut Trail and Kemp Road. According to a Sunday report by Deputy Kevin Nave, she saw them take the sign, followed them to the Hendrix store and said she was going to call police.
The suspects, described as two boys and a girl, left the sign at the store and drove away.
