The club has added a new event this year to celebrate the 10th year of the Bike Ride and their partnership with the Magnolia Festival. This event is named the Magnolia Mile. It is designed for bike riders of all ages. This will be a great event for the entire family. The Magnolia mile will begin in Downtown Durant Friday, June 2 at 5:30 p.m. prior to the Magnolia Festival's opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. The entry fee for the Magnolia Mile is $5 per person or $20 per family of 4 or more with check-in at third and Beech at 5 p.m. Riders under the age of 18 must have a form signed by a parent.
Everyone will be a winner this year in the bike rides. All participants in the Magnolia Mile and the Magnolia Bike Tour will receive an engraved “Durant Rotary Magnolia Event” medallion. All Magnolia Bike Tour pre-registrants will receive a T-shirt; on-site registrants can pick up shirts at the Magnolia Festival headquarters.
There are four route options including 12 mile, 22 mile, 40 mile, 60 mile route. Check-in and on-site registration begins at 7 a.m. The 60 milers will lead the mass start at 9 a.m.; all tour riders will follow beginning with the tandems. Registration will remain open until 9:30 a.m. Registration fee is non-refundable, and there is no rain date.
Riders are encouraged to carry their own water, pumps, tubes and tools. Rest stops with water, fruit and facilities are planned every 10 miles.
