COLBERT - Colbert Police took 41 crime reports and arrested 27 people in August, according to Chief John Polston's monthly report.

Officers also investigated three automobile accidents and were involved in one pursuit that ended in Texas.

Police wrote $28,000 in citations during August, and Officer Keith Smith resigned for personal reasons.

Two camera systems have been ordered for the new patrol cars, and the council approved a police request to test two new radars for possible purchase.

The Colbert Volunteer Fire Department had 14 calls for service last month, according to Chief Wade Jackson's monthly report. These were two structure fires, four grass fires, two car fires, three automobile accidents, two calls to assist EMS and one other call.

Colbert EMS had 44 calls for service, according to EMS Director Shelley Ervin's report.

These were 23 emergency transfers, five non-emergency transfers, nine refusals for medical treatment, four standbys and three calls canceled.
