Colbert Police took several kinds of drugs off the market during a traffic stop Friday evening.

According to Chief John Polston, Patrolman Rob Ballew stopped a truck for traveling 79 in a 70 mile-per-hour zone. Calera Police then advised Ballew that the driver was a suspected drug courier, and he gave consent to search.

Polston said several cans with false bottoms were found that contained 60 grams of methamphetamine and five grams of cocaine. Marijuana and several kinds of prescription pills were also seized, according to police. The truck was seized, and police will seek forfeiture.

The driver was arrested for not having a license. Police said that the driver and a passenger will face drug-trafficking charges. Polston turned a report over to the district attorney's office this morning for review.

Police said the drugs are worth $26,000.

In other drug crimes, two people were charged last week with methamphetamine manufacture following an investigation by Bryan County Undersheriff Ken Golden and Durant Police narcotics officers.

Charged were James William Capes, 42, and Dorothy Alexander, 45.

Narcotics officers Lt. Mike Woodruff and James Smarr acted on a tip in August from Golden about a possible drug lab at Money Talks Mobile Home Park on E. Main Street.

According to an affidavit by Woodruff, officers searched the home and seized chemicals and equipment used to make methamphetamine. The charges were filed after the investigation was completed.
