The town of Colbert has received a $40,000 grant to improve its water wells, Mayor Randall Gorman announced.

Colbert was plagued with water shortages last summer due to an inadequate water system. According to Gorman, the funds will help resolve the water problems.

The town also received a $25,000 donation from the Choctaw Nation for the construction of a new senior citizens center. The Chickasaw Nation had previously donated $25,000.

Construction is expected to begin soon.

Gorman plans to make an announcement at tonight's 6 p.m. council meeting pertaining to the growth of Colbert.
