C.J. was born June 19, 1922, in Yarnaby, to Clarence and Ethel Hamby Bennett, and attended and graduated school from Yarnaby, and spent his entire life in the area. He married Cloetta Davidson Oct. 21, 1944, in Yuba and they spent 62 wonderful years together. He worked for Pillsbury in Denison, Texas, for 32 years until his retirement, and enjoyed working with his cattle, rodeos, and watching football and basketball. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Prairie View Baptist Church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ethel Bennett; step mother Kate Bennett; sister Oleta Burleson; and grandson Ronnie Dean Bennett.
He is survived by his loving wife of the home Cloetta; sons Charles Dean Bennett and wife Linda, Tyler, Texas and Ron Bennett and wife Connie, Durant; granddaughters Lynn King and husband Joel, Troup, Texas, Rhonda Bowers and husband Kevin, Kennydale, Texas, and Sherry Brock and husband Greg of Harvest, Ala.; grandson Larry Bennett and wife Chasidy, Durant; sister Evelyn Kubrich,Garland, Texas; brothers Jimmy Joe Bennett, Gainsville,Texas, and Gilbert Bennett and wife Joan,Yuba; 4 greatgrandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Interment will be held at Rosewood Cemetery in Achille with Woodie Alexander, Thomas Alexander, Timmy Bennett, Randy Bennett, Spencer Bennett, and Johnny Bennett serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy McDonald, Norman McLarren and Wayne Burleson.
