Services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, for Eugene “Gene” T. Cox, 82, Durant, who passed away Friday, March 2, 2007, at his residence. The Rev. James Blagg will officiate.

He was born in Sweetwater, Texas, on Friday, January 23, 1925, to Orville Glen and Bessie (Humphries) Cox. He worked as a carpenter, and was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church. He married Billie Faye Wilson, on Sept. 25, 1947, Durant. He was the owner of Cox Construction, and served in the United States Army Air Corps. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents; daughter Glenda E. Brown; brother Donald R. Cox, step-mother Flora Cox.

He is survived by his wife of the home; sons Phillip Cox and wife Claudia, Matthew, N.C., Marc Cox and wife, Jeannine, Savannah, Texas; Laurie Cox, Durant; Katy Stinson and husband Linnie, Mead; son-in-law Doyle Brown, Mead; grandchildren Annie, Sadie and Emily Cox, Matthew, Ryan, and Micah Brown, Kortney, Tyler and Kara Stinson, Shelby Cox and Destiny Fields-Higgins; Donna Rains and her children Sidni Rains and Morganne Rains-Kemp.

VFW post 3916 will conduct military graveside services.

Interment will taken place at Highland Cemetery with Linnie Stinson, Tyler Stinson, Doyle Brown, Ryan Brown, Micah Brown, and Robert Armstrong. Staff Sergeant Matthew Brown will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Coffey-Murray Funeral home is handling the arrangements.
