He was born on May 10, 1930, in the Folsom Community, near Coleman to Anderson and Lena White Tipton. He graduated from Coleman High School and later married Gennie Evans on July 16, 1949, in Denison, Texas. He drove a truck for Marietta Manufacturing for several years and was a farmer and rancher for most of is adult life. He was also a member of the Highway 48 Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ernie Tipton and sister Lois Crow.
He is survived by his wife Gennie, of the home; daughter Terry Tipton, Durant; son Tony Tipton, Caney; sisters Estelle Daniel, Coleman, and Lucille Barnes, Armstrong; brother Dwight Tipton, Lovington, N.M.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Burial at Coleman Cemetery followed the service. Gerald Tipton, W.C. Daniel, David Daniel, Andy Barnes, Phil Daniel and Kim Barnes served as pallbearers. Honorary bearers were Rusty Daniel, Kevin Kincheloe, Mike Kincheloe and Roy Fogleman.
The arrangements were under the direction of Clark Funeral Service of Tishomingo.
