Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home for Juanita E Ward, 88, Durant, who died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Southern Pointe Living Center, Colbert. Mr. Joseph Dean will officiate.

She was born May 14, 1919 in Holdenville. Her parents were Elizabeth Mae (White) and Robert Lee Webster. Elizabeth passed away six months after her baby's birth, so Juanita's wonderful siblings, Lucille, Ruth and John helped to rear her.

She graduated from Quinton High School and East Central State College.

In 1942, Juanita married P.L. Ward. For many years, they owned and operated Ward's Cleaners, which was located at 4372 North Fifth Street in Durant.

Juanita was a loving and devoted mother to her only child, Karen, an adoring and caring grandmother to Ericka and Tre, and a proud and doting great-grandmother to Lily.

She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Durant where she served on the board. She was also a willing assistant with Blue Birds and Campfire groups. She was an avid gardener. Friends and family will treasure memories of her beautiful flowers and chuckle to themselves as they remember her saying, “Let me plant just one more.”

She was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by daughter Karen Packard, Dallas, Texas; granddaughter Ericka S. Calvert, Scottsdale, Ariz.; great-granddaughter Lily Sofia Calvert, Scottsdale; grandson Tre Packard, Tokyo, Japan; nieces Peggy Neal, Wewoka, and Glenda Jo Sentel, Bartlesville; nephews Jim Webster, San Francisco, Calif.; sisters Beulah Mae Engle, Tulsa, and Myrtle Lee McMichael, Clovis, Calif; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with John Williams, Johnny Heard, Sean Jones, Jim Kirkpatrick, Don Parker and Jim Corbin serving as pallbearers.

Condolences may be sent to the family at dhfh@communicomm.com.
