TAHLEQUAH - Southeastern's stake to a share of the Lone Star Conference North Division title was put in jeopardy with 24-14 loss to Northeastern State University Saturday.

The Savage Storm's fate is no longer in their own hands. With two division losses, the Storm trails Texas A&M Commerce and Central Oklahoma, each with just one loss in the North Division. Both teams would have to lose, and the Storm (3-6) would have to win next week at East Central to claim a share of the title. With the loss the Savage Storm will also be handed its first losing season in more than five years.

The NSU Riverhawks managed to take advantage five Savage Storm turnovers, with two interceptions and three lost fumbles, despite SOSU rolling up 396 yards of offense.

NSU opened the scoring as Joe Hogan completed a 28-yard touchdown pass to Ellis Bruner. SOSU had two turnovers in the first quarter, but got the second one back with an interception by Bernard Daniel. A big return was negated by a blocking penalty, and the Storm offense couldn't capitalize.

The Riverhawks put together an 11-play drive moving into the second period, capped by a Beal touchdown run of 10 yards. This time the Storm had an answer, coming back with a 37-yard run by Marcus High that set up a one-yard touchdown plunge by Sean Cooper.

Both offenses stalled in the second and third quarter, and the Riverhawks managed to go up by two possessions to start the fourth with a 28-yard field goal.

Southeastern answered with a touchdown pass of 11-yards from Jeremy Paxton to Daniel Nichols with 12 minutes remaining in the contest. NSU needed just three plays to answer, including a 48-yard run by Beal, before Beal completed a touchdown pass to Alexander and another two-possession lead.

The Storm ended its next drives, failing to convert on fourth down and losing a fumble.

High led the offensive effort with 106 rushing yards on eight carries, and Nichols had 120 yards on 9 grabs.
