He was born Dec. 22, 1941, to Silas Henry Sr. and Martha Elizabeth (McCall) Henry in Caney. He attended Caney School and then went on to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He married Nona Brown Feb. 14, 1963, in Bonham, Texas. He was a police officer and dispatcher for Atoka for several years. He was also a brick mason and rancher. He was of the Holiness faith. He was a member of the Brick Mason Union. He loved raising fighting roosters and hunting and fishing. Alvin, with his best friend and adopted brother, Ronnie Jackson, enjoyed many hours of companionship while raising roosters and hunting together. He and Kathy Lansdale were especially close the last 23 years of his life. He and his nephew, Roy Henry, enjoyed sitting on the porch drinking coffee and watching the sky light up at dawn before they went to feed the cattle. Ronnie, Kathy and Roy were by his side and helped ease his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Henry and sisters Pearl Rider and Savannah Spears.
He is survived by his children John Junior Henry, Caney, and Brenda Anderson, Bentley; grandchildren Patti Henry, John W. Anderson, Kevin Anderson, and Bethany Anderson; great-grandchildren Seth Anderson, Jayden Marie Flores; very dear friend and loved one, Kathy Lansdale, Caney; wife of 19 years and mother of his children, Nona Henry, Tushka; brother Silas Henry Jr. and wife Paulene, Caney; adopted brother, Ronnie Jackson and wife Carolyn, Caney; sister Pearlee Ashford, Soper; special nephew, Roy Henry, Caney; sister-in-law Dessie Henry, Caney. Alvin will be greatly missed by both his children and grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear and loved friends.
Burial will be in Fulsom Cemetery with John Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Roy Henry, Richard Henry, Eugene Woolf, Ben Ashford and Billy Daily serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Jackson, Brett Lansdale, Clint Crites, John Smithart, Chuck Carroll and Charles Pruitt.
