ACHILLE - Bryan County Conference champions the Achille Lady Eagles and Silo Rebels were able to keep the status quo with wins that split Friday's doubleheader here Saturday. Achille won the girls game 58-35, before the Rebels pulled away 54-45 in the nightcap.

Girls

Achille's Courtney Goff scored seven points as the Lady Eagles climbed to a 15-6 lead in the first period. After five points by Hillary Bryant and four from Bethany Johnson, Silo was able to shave a point off the half-time deficit to trail 23-15.

Silo was able to cut the lead down to six points in the first two minutes of the third quarter before Brittany Pilkilton hit her first of three 3-pointers in the period.

Her second led the Lady Eagles on a 10-0, and Kylie Manning closed out the quarter with a 3-pointer to build an insurmountable, 45-24 lead heading into the final period.

Manning finished with a game-high 19 points, as well as eight rebounds and three steals. Pilkilton ended her night with 16 points. Goff also ended up in double figures with 12 points.

Bryant added five more points in the fourth quarter, leading Silo with 17 for the game. Johnson was the only other player in double figures with 10 points.

Boys

Trey Blanton's work in the paint helped him to a game-high 21 points, but it also kept the Eagles on the comeback trail. Silo's Brandon Wells and Logan Oller each hit a pair of 3-pointers to help lead the Rebels to a 19-14 first quarter. Blanton followed a 3-pointer by Thomas Evans to open the second quarter with a game-tying basket, and capped a 6-0 run with four points inside the paint to give the Eagles a momentary 25-23 lead.

Silo took their largest lead of the night at nine points with an opening foul shot by Dylan Clymore in the fourth, but made just one field goal in the next six minutes.

During that span Blanton scored five points, including a free throw that brought the Eagles back within three points at 48-45 with a little less than three minutes left in the contest.

Wells lifted the Rebels back up to a four-point lead with a foul shot, and Silo got a couple of big turnovers to keep hold off Achille.

Wells finished with 14 points and seven rebounds to lead the Rebels. Micah Moore added 12 points, and Logan Oller finished with 11. Achille's Evans finsihed with 11 points.
