DURANT — A man has been hit with drug charges after police say he tossed bags of marijuana out of a bedroom window.
Dale C. Keylon, 33, Durant, was charged Wednesday with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methadone and possession of paraphernalia.
Police were dispatched at 12:04 a.m. Wednesday to Keylon’s 1922 W. Main St. home to investigate a drug complaint.
Sgt. Billy Jones and patrolmen Tim McEachern and Bryan Moore went to the home. Police knocked on the door and an officer saw Keylon toss baggies of suspected marijuana out of a northeast bedroom window, according to a probable-cause affidavit by Narcotics Lt. Mike Woodruff, who assisted with the investigation.
Keylon climbed out the window and began picking the items up, according to police, and he was ordered to stop.
Moore handcuffed Keylon and Woodruff retrieved the items from the backyard. According to the affidavit, there were two baggies of suspected marijuana, two sets of scales, two pipes, prescription pills and a Methadone tablet.
In other crimes, Patrolman Brock Jones investigated an automobile burglary Tuesday at Ledford’s Automotive Repair and Welding on South Ninth Avenue. A computer chip and assorted tools worth were stolen out of an unlocked vehicle. The items were valued at $450.
Dale Sullivan told Patrolman Jones on Tuesday that a lawnmower worth $175 had been stolen from his backyard shed in the 1600 block of Smith Street.
Jones investigated another theft Tuesday at University Arms Apartments. Lucille Ginden’s $200 ring and assorted make-up were stolen out of the bathroom of her apartment, the report stated. There had been visitors to the home.
On Monday, Jones investigated an automobile burglary in the 400 block of West Walnut Street. Timothy Jones said a video game system, auxiliary wires, charger and purse were stolen from the vehicle.
Patrolman Jason Hathcoat investigated the theft of $790 worth of tools from a construction site in the 1500 block of Remington East Circle. Jose Ramirez told the officer on Tuesday that he had been working on a new house in November when they were stolen. The victim said he did not report that theft at the time but found some of his tools in a pawn shop last month and purchased them. The home they were stolen out of is now occupied, so there was no evidence at the scene.
Hathcoat investigated a theft Sunday in the 600 block of South Third Avenue. Jens Matheson told the officer that a DVD player, five DVDs and $150 in cash had been stolen from his home.
Also Sunday, Brittany Crowell told Patrolman Shane Walker that her $200 bicycle was stolen from the breezeway of her apartment in the 3800 block of University Boulevard. The bike had been secured with a chain at the time of the theft.
On Monday, Hatchcoat investigated a burglary at Crescent Creek Apartments. According to the report, someone entered through the window of Misti Cahill’s apartment and stole a 30-gallon fish tank, television and a CD player.
