Services will be on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Caddo, Oklahoma with Bro. Charles Loyd officiating. The family hour will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
“Frank” (as he was known to his friends) served his country in the Marines for a time. He married Janell Gossett on December 22, 1959, at Mt. Carmel in Caddo, Oklahoma, and they spent a great deal of their lives there in Caddo. He is a former mayor of the Caddo community. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Lackey was a teacher, serving as principal for a school in Josephine, Texas. Later he taught Social Studies at Denison Schools for thirty-six years.
He loved teaching, music, and singing on radio programs with his sister, Leona. But mostly he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ollie Lackey; his sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Eddie Summers; and two other brother-in-laws, Donald Merritt and Johnny Hayes.
He is survived by his wife, Janell, of the home; two sisters, Beatrice Merritt of Texas and Leona Hayes of Durant; son, Randall Lackey of Caddo; daughter, Renae Shields of Atoka; a granddaughter, Dione Watson of Caddo; two grandsons, Brandon Watson of Caney and Jeremy Lackey of Gainesville, Texas. He also has two great-granddaughters, Kelsey Watson and Sarah Sutterfield; and two great-grandsons, Jakob and Jared Sutterfield. All his great grandchildren reside in Caddo. Frank also has also has six nieces and two nephews that were very dear to him. They are Deborah Elliott, Sharon Strickland, Patricia Lane, Donna Ojeda, Beverly Goza and husband David, Laura Dodd and husband Gerald, Steve Hayes and wife Becky, and Jackey Summers.
Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Brandon Watson, Jeremy Lackey, David Goza, Gerald Dodd, Lupe Sutterfield and Wesley Goza serving as pallbearers. Utah Nation will serve as honorary pallbearer.
