DURANT — Authorities have been busy investigating burglaries, thefts and other property crimes.
Sheriff’s Investigator John Bates is looking for suspects in the recent burglary of Ben’s Barbecue on Highway 70 west of Durant.
According to Bates, three females and one male entered the establishment and stole numerous items. Loss, counting damage, was estimated at $3,000.
The burglars are shown on the restaurant’s surveillance.
In other burglaries, Durant Master Police Officer Jesse Petty investigated the theft of a saw from the Holiday Inn construction site on University Place. Jerry McWilliams told Petty Wednesday that a utility trailer had been entered and a saw was stolen. McWilliams called back later that day and said he found the saw in nearby weeds. Nothing else was taken.
Daniel Prince told police on Monday that a rear tire on his vehicle was cut. The victim said the vehicle was parked at Indian Nation Wholesale and he noticed the damage after work. There is a suspect.
Jason Clouse told Patrolman Drew Hale recently that his Dodge Dakota was vandalized while parked in the 1400 block of Wendell Drive. The victim said he was visiting a friend when he heard several loud noises. A man ran from the property and left in a Hummer, according to the report. The truck had two dents and a scratch on the driver’s-side door. The culprit left a muddy shoe print on the door.
Hale found the suspect, who denied being there, according to the report, but Hale took his shoe prints for evidence.
A third person has been charged in connection with suspected marijuana found during a recent raid of a North Park apartment, 1201 N. 19th Ave.
Rikki Marie Brown, 18, Durant, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Charged earlier this week with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute were Rebecca Norrine Avie Bledsoe, 22, Durant, and Robert J.L. Williams, 31, Durant.
Police went to the apartment to investigate a drug complaint and seized approximately 10 ounces of marijuana following a search, according to an affidavit.
A 2003 Chevrolet pickup was stolen Wednesday from Kenneth Carr in the 1100 block of Whittleville Road.
According to a report by Deputy Andy Kenyon, Carr was taking a nap and when he woke up, he saw that his truck was missing from the driveway.
Neighbors told him that a man had been walking down the road and asking for a ride.
