Services for N.D. “Dale” Scoggin, 86, who died at his residence Sunday, July 6, 2008, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Johnson-Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Joe Dee Ray will officiate.

Dale was born March 20, 1922 in Denison, Texas, to V.S. and Addie M. McElroy Scoggin. He graduated from Denison High School in 1940. He married Virginia Hargis on May 15, 1947, in Denison, Texas. She passed away Oct. 28, 2007.

Mr. Scoggin worked as a distributor for Mobil Oil and later retired from Hitchcock Industries. He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942-1945. He served in the Pacific Theater.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Norene Pearson and Mrs. Neta Kelley.

He is survived by his son Phillip C. Scoggin and wife Kim of Durant; daughter Gloria B. Ward and husband J.B. of Durant; sisters Mrs. Frances Rheay of Denison, Texas, and Mrs. Jeannie Neinast of Arlington, Texas; grandsons Gary D. Moore and Jim B. Ward, both of Durant, Stone Scoggin of Bristow and Geoff Golden of Westminister, Colo.; granddaughters Seanna Delozier of Durant, Teri Ernst of Arlington, Texas, Tami Ellis of Grapevine, Texas, Sloan Lewis of Waurika and Sharon Killough of Paris, Texas; four great-grandsons, nine great-granddaughters and two great-great-grandsons.

Burial will be at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Stone Scoggin, Derik Delozier, Gary Moore, Kevin Farley, Jim Ward and Bob Ernst.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to the American Legion Post No. 62, 419 W. Crawford St., Denison, Texas 75020.

Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison, Texas, is handling the arrangements.
