The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate a hit and run accident that took the life of Joshua Lynn Williams who was walking on a county road when he was struck by an unknown vehicle.

Williams, 20, of Bokchito, was found at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, on Cade Highway in the eastern part of the county, according to the patrol, who said he was deceased at the scene.

According to OHP Capt. Ronnie Hampton, troopers have interviewed more than 30 people and expect to gather more evidence.

A party was held near the location of the crash and troopers believe Williams left that location in the early morning hours.

Troopers are using several methods to investigate the case, including canvas operations and investigative roadblocks.

Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to call the patrol at 924-2601.

In other accidents, a Bokchito woman was flown from the scene after she crashed her motorcycle Saturday 2.9 miles east of Durant on Highway 70.

Michelle Dawn Payne, 30, was flown by LifeStar helicopter to Parkland Hospital, Dallas, Texas, where she is being treated for arm and leg injuries, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Payne was westbound at 4:57 p.m. when she lost control of her Honda motorcycle, drove off the south side of the road and struck a tree limb.

She was not wearing a helmet, according to Trooper Kyle Ince’s report.

A Kingston man was charged with second-degree murder following an OHP investigation of a fatal crash Aug. 14 that killed a woman.

Christopher Bailey, 37, was charged in connection with the crash that killed Mary Boyer, 70, Kingston. According to the patrol, Bailey was intoxicated when he drove into the path of a vehicle the victim was riding in.
