Darrell married Evelyn Hensley December 8, 1970, in Gainesville, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army and Navy during Vietnam. He was the owner of Hicks Appliances and was a member of the Light House Church in Colbert, Oklahoma. Darrell enjoyed fishing, camping and being with his family.
Surviving relatives are his wife, Evelyn Hicks of the home; sons, Christopher Wayne Hicks and wife Hadieha of Durant, Oklahoma, Charles Lee Hicks of Durant, Oklahoma, Jonathan David Hicks of Durant, Oklahoma, Billy Rex Morgan of Durant, Oklahoma; brothers, Ronnie Lee Hicks of Fitzhugh, Oklahoma, Donald Roy Hicks of Davis, Oklahoma; sisters, Martha Martin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Reba Moore of Ada, Oklahoma, Mary Susan Pierce of Allen, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Alexandria Hicks, Elizabeth Hicks, Christopher “CJ” Hicks, Jr., Joshua White, Darius Miller, and Isaiah Hicks; and many other relatives and friends.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ollie Hicks; brother, Charles Hicks; and sister, Betty Wyatt.
Family Hour will be 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Holmes - Coffey - Murray Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Holmes - Coffey - Murray Funeral Home, 121 N. 5th Ave., Durant, Oklahoma, with Rev. Joe Beshirs officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Durant, Oklahoma. .
