Billie and Alton Maupin celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 27, 2008, with a barbecue dinner and cake provided by the staff of Southern Pointe Living Center, where Mrs. Maupin is a resident.

The Maupins were married on Nov. 27, 1949, at the First Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas, with Mrs. Maupin’s mother, the pastor and his wife in attendance.

During their first year of marriage the couple lived in Durant. They then moved to California and worked in a grape vineyard. They have lived in Oklahoma, California, Texas, Kansas and New Mexico.

They had five children, three still living, and two deceased. They have seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and are expecting their first great-great-grandchild in April.

Mr. Maupin now resides in Calera. He visits Mrs. Maupin daily at Southern Pointe Living Center in Colbert.
