Durant Main Street will be holding its 13th Annual Street Carnival on Saturday, Oct. 1. The event will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Market Square Parking Lot at 1st & Evergreen. Special activities are sure to make this year’s event the best ever. This is an annual fundraising event for improving downtown Christmas activities. Organizers have set fundraising goals in hopes of being able to increase the amount distributed during the Shopping Spree Giveaway from mid-November until Christmas.

Local businesses, organizations, and individuals work together to make this a successful endeavor. Aside from being a fundraiser to enhance Christmas fun, Durant Main Street wants to make this a special night that children will remember. Events include a “love the llamas” petting zoo, archery shoot, and a children’s bounce house. Clowns will be handing out balloons, games and activities will be available, and popcorn will be for sale. The cakewalk and bingo are always popular as are the pony rides. There will also be a dunking booth, plus an inflatable obstacle course. Tickets cost 25 cents each or 25 for $5. Activities and food cost anywhere from 1-8 tickets. Call 924-1550 for more information. In the event of rain, the event will be held October 2 from 2-4:30.
