Elzie attended school in Colbert and later married Bernice Collins on September 3, 1955 in Durant, Ok. He worked his entire life farming and ranching in Bryan County and he proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Church of Christ and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, dogs, birds and his cabin in the mountain.
Elzie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 plus years Bernice Weger of the home; daughters Veronica Winnett and husband Tommy of Colbert and Gloria Winnett and husband Melvin of Colbert; son David Weger of Calera; sister Mildred O’Neal of Hosford, Florida; grandchildren Vanessa Burroughs, Valicia Fletcher, Veronica Zalis, Cameron Zalis, Conner Zalis, Josh Fletcher and wife Carrie, Ryan Reynolds and wife Amber, Leah Marr and husband Trey, Wade Weger, Matt Winnett and Courtney Anderson and husband Jeremie; great grandchildren Canon Marr, Chandler Marr, Saydee Hofstetter, Emi Anderson, Dawson McDonald, Cheyanne Hofer and Ethan Hofer; special friend Tammy Weger and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Elzie was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Novena Weger and daughter Iola Fletcher.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Charles Busbey will officiate. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Colbert.
