Born to Francis and Mrytle Taylor, now deceased, Ruth was one of three girls and six boys. She learned to cook when she was but a young lady and was busy in the kitchen wherever she was from that time on…her own home, her church, at Deer Creek Boys Home, or anywhere else. Ruth married Ralph Brown and to that marriage were born two children: Dan Brown and Rita (Brown) Mc Donald. After the death of her first husband, she married Raymond Jeske, who had one daughter that Ruth helped him raise, Carolyn (Jeske) Rushing. Later in life, she and Raymond adopted twins, Robert and Robyn Jeske. The last 12 years of her life was made fuller and richly blessed by the presence of her great grandson, Hunter Ray Jeske living with her in Cushing, Oklahoma.
The funeral will be on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. in her home church, Oak Street Baptist Church in Cushing, Oklahoma.
The rest of the immediate family includes: Dan’s wife, Glenda, of Yukon, their daughter and her husband, April and Mike Maddry of Norman, along with their three sons: Tyler, Zachary, and Austin Maddry: Ritas’ husband, J.R. McDonald: Carolyn’s husband, Glendel Rushing. Robert’s wife, Georgiana and her children, Kaiden and Kelsi. Other relatives who survive are: her sister, Marie Lejeska of Shawnee; brother, Ralph and wife, Agnes Taylor, of Shawnee; brother, Clyde and wife, Glenda Sue, of Shawnee; brother, Earl and wife, Glenda “Sis” of Agra. The boys and girls remained close and found joy and comfort in the presence of one another and Ruth all of her life.
Her church family at Oak Street Baptist Church was also her family. She would want to mention the Indian Baptist Church, and Park Place Baptist Church, all in Cushing, Oklahoma, where she spent many years raising her family and being a kind of special “mom” to everyone else’s children, working in Vacation Bible School many years and of course, cooking for everyone anytime anyone asked.
Relatives who are deceased include: brothers, Carl, Bill, and Wesley Taylor and sister, Lucy (Taylor) Rolan.
Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.
