Bert Delano Durham, 77, of Powderly, passed from this life Wednesday February 22, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 28, 2012 in the chapel of Starrett Funeral Home, with Rev. Brad Crosswhite officiating. Interment will follow in the Bokchito Cemetery in Bokchito, Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 Monday at the funeral home.

Bert was born March 1, 1934 in Bennington, Oklahoma, a son of Bert and Bertie Mae Faulkner Durham. He was a graduate of Bennington schools, then graduated from North Texas State University in Denton. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from 1954 until 1962, then later worked as Parts Manager for Clarence Talley Volkswagen in Dallas. Upon retirement in 2003 he and his wife moved to their land in Lamar County.

He married Shirley Ann Shields on December 21, 1962 in Dallas..

Bert was preceded in death by an infant son Daniel Ray Durham on December 23, 1966; and by a sister, Anna Mae Elliott.

Survivors include his wife Shirley, of the home; three nieces, Patty, Cara, and Kitty; a nephew, Mike; and by a host of other relatives and friends.

Named to serve as pallbearers are Joe Shields, Kevin Kromenberger, Mario Ochoa, Aaron Ochoa, Wayne Speckman, and Jimmy Dale Jones.
