This letter is another opposition to the location of the Magnolia Festival this year. I would like to say that it is an outrage that the festival is being moved to the Choctaw Event Center! The Magnolia Festival is a chance for main street to gain much needed attention by locals, visitors, and people passing through. All this is going to do is bring more attention to the casino, which in my own opinion gets enough attention as it is. It seems that Choctaw Casino will do anything to draw people in, even if it means taking attention away from Main Street in Durant. I am thankful for the things that the Choctaw Nation does for the City of Durant, and Oklahoma in general, but I think that hosting the Magnolia Festival is going a bit too far. I will be boycotting the Magnolia Festival this year, and I know plenty of others who will be doing the same.
