BOKCHITO - Rock Creek edged past the Caddo Bruins 9-8 on Monday, thanks to a game-winning double in the seventh inning for Cameron Hammond.

Kodi From and Les Shumake both went 3-for-3 in the game to help the Mustangs. Shumake collected a win on the hill, while Caddo’s lefty Josh Ringle took a close loss.

“We were down a run and scored two to go ahead in the top of the seventh,” said Rock Creek baseball Coach Kyle Wingfield. The victory follows last week’s impressive finish over Soper in the Rock Creek Spring Tournament. “We’re kind of hitting our stride, hitting that playoff push to get after it.”

Those playoffs begin April 19. On Tuesday, Rock Creek played a JV game against Calera. The Mustangs’ next battle will be in Hugo on Friday as they will face the Buffaloes and a re-match with a tough Soper team.

Caddo was in Caney on Tuesday, and the road swing will continue Thursday as the Bruins head to Atoka and Friday in Stonewall.
