The Wesley Center at Southeastern Oklahoma State University will host the second annual Student Showcase from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, April 21.

The dinner event includes a silent auction, door prizes and entertainment. It will be held at the Wesley Center, which is at 311 University Blvd. next to the SE campus police station. Tickets are $7 for SE students and $15 for non-students.

“This is our second annual spring banquet, and all donations fund the internship program,” said Wesley Center Hospitality Intern Dottie Cummins of Ardmore. She is a senior art education major at the university.

Wesley Center Director, Rev. Jolennda Cole (a pastor with the United Methodist Church) said the center is looking to expand its internship program from its current two student workers. The Wesley Center is one of four spiritually-based student centers at Southeastern, and is affiliated with a number of Durant and southern Oklahoma churches and denominations.

“It’s a place anyone can come and worship,” said Worship Intern Drew McKinney of Dallas, a freshman. “A friend of mine invited me over, and I ended up staying on. I get to play music and do what I love.”

Student artwork will be on display and available for purchase. Numerous local businesses have donated door prizes, and a full meal will be served. All proceeds will go toward the Wesley Center’s Intern Fund.
