Billie Jane Maupin, 87, of Durant, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 16th 2012 in Kerrville, Texas. She was born

in Hendrix, Oklahoma to William and Hazel Jones on September 12, 1924. She married Charles Forest Maupin on January

2nd, 1946 in Durant, Oklahoma.

B.J. went to school in Kemp, Oklahoma where she graduated as the valedictorian of her high school class. She went on

to graduate from Southeastern Oklahoma State College where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority, Spanish Club,

and many other organizations. B.J. was involved in numerous bible studies, golfing groups, Women’s Connection,

Newcomers Club, P.E.O., multiple bridge groups, Republican Women of Kerrville, and an avid supporter of Hill Country

Youth Ranch. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Durant, Oklahoma, and after moving to Kerrville,

Trinity Baptist Church.

B.J. is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles, her loving parents, Hazel Elizabeth Jones and William Walter Jones.

B.J. is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Chana and Allen Johnson of Kerrville, grandson and his wife, Charlie and

Jennifer Johnson of Kerrville, and granddaughter, Katie Johnson of Tucson, Arizona.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Thursday April 19th at Trinity Baptist Church, Kerrville, Texas with Greg

Peschel officiating. Family Hour will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday April 20th at the First Christian Church parlor in Durant, Oklahoma.

Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 21st at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Johnson, Steven Schmitz, Charles Johnson, Jimmie Peschel, Craig Leslie, Bruce Curry, Don

Nash, and Clifton Fifer.

Memorials may be given to Peterson Home Care or Peterson Hospice. The family of B.J. Maupin wishes to extend our

sincere thanks to Dr. Young, Dr. Barrington, Dr. Sanderson, and Dr Wilson, the wonderful nurses at Peterson ICU, Peterson Home Health, and Peterson Hospice. You all were so instrumental in our precious mother and grandmother’s care. Thank you to all her sweet friends, bridge groups, bible study ladies, PEO sisters, and church family. You were all the light of her life!

We will all remember B.J. as our Southern Belle, Steel Magnolia and fashionista. B.J. will be missed dearly, but we know

she has a great bridge group in heaven already.
