DURANT — Troopers arrested a fugitive in Bryan County wanted for sex crimes in two states, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
On Tuesday, the OHP Troop E Headquarters in Durant received information that a multi-state wanted person, Jason Daniel Lackey, was residing in a residence east of Durant.
According to OHP, Lackey was wanted in Texas and Minnesota and had been entered into the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) as a wanted person considered armed and dangerous.
Lackey was wanted in Texas by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for parole violations on sexual assault and also from Weatherford Texas Police Department for failing to register as a sex offender, according to OHP. In Minnesota, he was wanted for parole violations for strong armed rape.
OHP Troopers went to a location approximately three miles east of Durant and set up surveillance. According to OHP, Lackey pulled into the driveway a short time later and was taken into custody by troopers after a brief struggle.
“The location where Lackey was arrested was near a trailer park where young children lived. All of the charges that he was wanted for were sexual assault, strong armed rape and failing to register as a sex offender stretching from Minnesota to Texas, obviously we were happy to get this guy off the streets of Bryan County and into the jail,” said OHP Captain Ronnie Hampton, Troop Commander of Troop E in Durant.
“Our troopers were very diligent in that the surveillance was conducted in a heavy rain with near freezing temperatures.”
Lackey will be held in the Bryan County Jail pending extradition. Both Texas and Minnesota have placed holds on Lackey, according to Hampton
