A man arrested by Durant Police after a search of his residence has been charged with growing marijuana and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.

Leslie Lee Green, 51, was charged Thursday. He was arrested Wednesday after the Durant Police Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at an apartment in the 1300 block of North Sixth Avenue.

According to an affidavit, no one answered the door, so officers forced their way in and found Green standing in the front room. He was handcuffed and served a copy of the search warrant.

Officers began searching the apartment and they found a large, green plant in a closet, and in the bedroom, were two plots on a shelf that contained green plants, the affidavit states.

Police also found a loaded .22-caliber rifle. The affidavit states that Green, upon questioning said he was growing the marijuana for his personal use and that he was on a 10-year suspended sentence for a marijuana cultivation conviction from 2009. He was booked into jail.
