Durant Main Street announced First and Bourne will be this week’s featured band for Music on Market Square. The public is invited to the outdoor stage at First and Evergreen in Downtown Durant to hear good music in a relaxed atmosphere. It will begin this Thursday night at 7 p.m.

First and Bourne has been playing for about eight years. They are a bluegrass band with a touch of gospel. They have played for the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival and the Magnolia Festival.

Members are Bill Garner (singer), Dr. Jim Speers (mandolin and singer), Steve Garner (guitar, banjo, and singer), and Jackie Garner (bass and singer). They feel Music on Market Square is one of the best things that have happened in a long time, and they are looking forward to performing.

Durant Main Street Program Manager Beverly Hemphill knows how popular the group is. “Everyone seems to know of the group and like their music. They have a wonderful harmony. You don’t want to miss this.”
